How are After-Hours Emergencies handled?
A doctor is on call after office hours, during weekends, and on holidays. These calls should be limited to emergencies or serious illnesses as a $25 charge will be assessed for each phone consultation with the doctor. Please have your credit card ready when you call.

Call the regular office number: (407) 900-2747 for instructions to reach the doctor on call.
Also note that medications will not be refilled by the on-call doctor.

Should my infant child be seen by a pediatrician or a family physician?
This is a personal decision that a family needs to make. DR. MASRI is well-trained in infant and child care. Our office policy of not to see children below the age of 5 years is strictly based on the prohibitive cost of stocking many childhood immunizations.

Family physicians are more likely to refer complicated pediatric health problems to a subspecialist, however, we are well qualified to treat acute respiratory tract infections, asthma, sinusitis, perform routine physicals and immunizations, and screening for developmental and orthopedic abnormalities. Since we often treat the parents we have a wider knowledge of the whole family situation than a pediatrician might.

What about Appointment Cancellations?
When an appointment time is reserved for you, this time is unavailable for other patients. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we would require a 24 hour notice to allow another patient in need to be seen.
Failure to notify us 24 hours in advance of a cancellation will result in a $50 surcharge being placed on your account.
We request one week’s notice to reschedule comprehensive physicals.

Can you tell me about Fees and Payments?
MASRI MEDICAL participates with several health insurance plans for which the patient is required to make a co-payment and a claim is filed with the insurance company for the remaining balance. Co-payments, annual deductibles and coinsurance amounts are the responsibility of the patient and are due at the time of service. These payments will be collected at the time of your appointment. Failure to make the required co-payment may result in a surcharge being placed on your account. Be sure to inquire about the participation status of your health insurance plan when scheduling appointments and at each visit. The patient is responsible for letting us know of changes in insurance and other information. Also, we file Medicare claims and accept the allowable fees. For patients without insurance, full payment is due at the time of service. Payment may be made by cash, check, or credit card. You can find more details here on our Patient Financial Agreement.

What about Insurance Coverage?
MASRI MEDICAL is currently pursuing contracts with a number of managed care plans. We are happy to obtain pre-authorization or, if needed, pursue out-of-network coverage. At present, we are fully contracted with the following health plans:

How do Medication Refills work?
MASRI MEDCAL believes that each patient is the captain of their health and we are simply navigators. We make recommendations based upon sound, evidence based medical information. We recommend that patients with stable diabetes see their physician every three to four months; controlled hypertension every four to six months; and, if uncontrolled, monthly. Patients with cholesterol problems are followed every six months. Follow-up visits are necessary so MASRI MEDICAL can provide the best medical care for your health problems, including assessment of the effectiveness of therapy, monitoring for side effects and watching for the development of new problems.

Medication refills require a doctor’s approval, indicating that a patient is following the approved protocols for safety as well as effective therapy. For this reason, MASRI MEDICAL will always prescribe medications with enough refills to last until the next office visit as indicated by a patients’ medical condition and the standard of care dictated by the professional medical community. For this reason, medication will only be refilled during office visits. Running low on a medication can serve as a helpful reminder that you have a follow-up visit scheduled.

Because MASRI MEDICAL wants to insure the highest quality of medical service, antibiotics and other medications used to treatment acute illness will also only be given after a thorough evaluation in the office and will not be called in by phone.

How do I get my Test Results?
We understand our patients want to know their test results as quickly as possible. For that reason, we encourage you to schedule an appointment to review your lab or other diagnostic test results as soon as you have the testing completed.

Test results require interpretation. Therefore results, as well as copies of labs or other diagnostic tests will only be given at the time of office visit.
Exceptions include NORMAL results for routine testing performed as part of an annual physical exam, such as a Pap smear or mammogram result. These may be given by phone with your previously signed consent.

Can you help me with Medical Forms Completion?
Our practice receives many requests to complete various patient forms such as for insurance, disability, FMLA, and handicapped parking. Completion of these forms requires medical expertise and review of medical record documentation. For this reason, a fee based on complexity and length of the forms will be collected prior to releasing the form.
It is the patient's responsibility to complete their portion of the form and submit it to the requesting party.
Please allow up to 7 to 10 days for processing.

What about Medical Records & Privacy?
As your primary care provider, MASRI MEDICAL is serious about maintaining a complete and comprehensive medical record. Your medical record includes your medical history and current health status, test results and specialty reports, current and past medications, immunizations, and hospital and emergency department reports. Reliable access to our patients' medical records has been secured by using an electronic health record (EHR). The relationship between the doctor and patient is confidential and any information exchanged will be held in the strictest of confidence. Confidential medical information will be released only with the express consent and authorization of the patient. You can designate trusted individuals with whom we may discuss your medical record here.

How do you handle Referrals?
Based on your insurance requirements, a referral or precertification may be necessary for specialty and/or diagnostic services. Please select Referrals and email us your request with the following information.

Patient's name and date of birth.

Caller's name and phone number.

Patient insurance and identification number.

Name of the specialist or facility along with the fax number, if available.

Date of scheduled visit.

Reason for visit.

If our doctor has not referred you, you may be required to have an office visit here first. We then submit the request to your insurance company which decides if the referral is approved. Please Contact Us well in advance to allow for the approval process.
